“THE ROAD TO SCP” CONCERT – AUGUST 4, 2019 – FRIDAY 7:00 PM
Stephanie Curcio, former harp instructor at Phillips Exeter Academy and St. Paul’s School, will narrate a concert program, “The Road to SCP (Stephanie Curcio Publications) on Friday, August 2, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. The program will be held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 2021 West S.R. 426, Oviedo, FL, 32765. The concert will feature several of Mrs. Curcio’s students as well as our own Chapter president, Barbara Browning, on piano. They will play Curcio’s arrangements and compositions, while she shares some of the history of the harp in early America along with other interesting stories. It will be accompanied by a slide presentation
Admission is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Central Florida Chapter of the American Harp Society. The American Harp Society is a not-for-profit organization.
Mrs. Curcio was recognized by the state House of Representatives in 2008 for her 40 years of service and contributions to education and enhancement of the art of music in New Hampshire.

SUMMER WORKSHOP AND CONCERTS SLATED FOR FRIDAY-SUNDAY,
AUGUST 2, 3 AND 4, 2019
The Central Florida Chapter of the American Harp Society is pleased to announce a special weekend of harp workshops and performances featuring Stephanie Curcio from August 2 – 4, 2019. The event will be held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1655 Peel Avenue, Orlando, FL 32806. We invite you to not only attend all the classes, but to participate in the ensemble at the final recital. Please see the attached schedule for more details.
The fee for this weekend is $50.00 for existing chapter members and $70.00 for non-members to participate in all events. There is no charge for non-harpist spouses or non-harpist parents accompanying their children, but classroom space is reserved for paid registrants. Walk-ins will be accepted on a space available basis. Concerts are free and open to the public.

HARP ENSEMBLE CONCERT – AUGUST 4, 2019 – SUNDAY 3:00 PM
The Central Florida Chapter of the American Harp Society will present a harp ensemble concert with over 15 harps on Sunday, August 4, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. The performance will be held at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1655 Peel Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32806.
Admission is free and open to the public and there is adequate free parking. The American Harp Society is a not-for-profit organization and free will offerings are gratefully accepted. The ensemble will feature the members of the Central Florida Chapter performing the music and arrangements of Stephanie Curcio, renowned harpist from New Hampshire, and she will be directing the ensemble.

Explore the world and music of South America as in demand soloist and recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Bridget Kibbey, performs a World Premiere harp concerto by Brazilian composer João Luiz Rezende, full of different colors and virtuosic possibilities for the harp. The evening features Concertmaster Rimma Bergeron-Langlois on Ravel’s Tzigane, derived from the European term for ‘gypsy’, a must for music-lovers!

is a winner of a prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, a Salon de Virtuosi SONY Recording Grant, an artist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and winner of Premiere Prix at the Journées de les Harpes Competition in Arles, France. Kibbey has fast gained a reputation for her diverse, energetic programming that spans the baroque, French Masterworks, and rhythmic migration in South America.
Upcoming highlights include: Multiple tours of her own adaptations of J.S. Bach’s keyboard concerti alongside the Dover Quartet in the US and Canada, a ten-city duo collaboration with mandolinist Avi Avital, and various solo recitals around the United States.
She premieres a new harp concerto with four American Orchestras – written by composer João Luiz Rezende – exploring the evolution of Brazilian popular dance forms on the harp, alongside her own Bach transcriptions with string orchestra, starting with the Orlando Philharmonic, paired with Bach’s Harpsichord Concerto in F Minor.
She returns to the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner, presenting French Masterworks by Debussy, Ravel, and Caplet.
Kibbey has toured and recorded with luminaries Placido Domingo, Dawn Upshaw, and Gustavo Santaollalo for SONY Records and
Deutsche Grammaphon; and, her own debut album, Love is Come Again, was named one of the Top Ten Releases by Time Out New York.
Bridget Kibbey’s solo performances have been broadcast on NPR’s Performance Today, New York’s WQXR, WNYC’s Soundcheck, WETA’s Front Row Washington, WRTI’s Crossover, and on television in A&E’s Breakfast with the Arts. Most recently she was named “Best in Studio 2018” by WQXR for her performance of her own adaptation of J.S. Bach’s Toccata and Fugue, live on air.

CHRISTMAS ENSEMBLE CONCERT – SUNDAY, DECEMBER 1, 2019

The Christmas Harp Ensemble Concert will be at Church on the Drive (formerly College Park Baptist Church) at 1914 Edgewater Dr., Orlando, Fl. 32804, on Sunday, December 1, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. At least 20 harpists will perform for this favored event. In addition will be cellos from young artists and Bells of Grace (12 member handbell choir) from Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Featured will be favorite Christmas songs by the ensemble and soloists. Refreshments in the fellowship hall will follow the event.
